Panama Canal Passes New 3000 Milestone of New Panamax
Last Friday (March 2), the 9,000TEU container ship "MSC Caterina" flying the Panamanian flag became the 3,000th Neopanamax vessel 20 months after the expansion of the Panama Canal. The captain 300 meters, 48 meters wide. This is one of nine Neopanamax boats that pass through the Panama Canal that same day.
So far, 53% of the 3,000 Neopanamax vessels expanded through the canal are container ships, 28% are liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and 10% liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships, and LNG transportation is a new and expanding canal project. The new expansion of the canal through the dry bulk carriers, tankers, car ro-ro and cruise ships.
So far, several other important moments are the "MSC Anzu" that passed the 1000th on March 19, 2017 and the "COSCO Yantian" that passed the 2000th on September 26, 2017 respectively.
