OSK-Shiptech Receives World's Largest Ro-Ro Ship Design Order
MSC Group and Onorato Armatori have jointly signed a historic contract with GSI to build four luxury ro-ro passenger ships. At the same time, OSK-ShipTech, a Danish shipbuilder, won the concept design contract for the new passenger rolling stock to participate in the world's largest ro-ro passenger ship project.
It is learned that the contract for the construction of the world's largest ro-ro passenger ship has recently been signed in Beijing. This is also the result of the long-term cooperation between the above shipyards, shipowners and ship design companies.
The Ro-Ro passenger ships have the Danish standards, can sail around the world, each capacity of 3765 parking spaces, with 536 rooms, accommodation 2500 passengers. The new boat will reserve LNG power capacity, using the latest energy optimization technology. Among them, MSC Group's Italy-based operating company GNV will receive two new ships, while two new ships will be delivered to the Italian operator Onorato Armatori. The contract also includes the right of first refusal of an additional four passenger rovers of the same type. So, from any point of view, it's a record order for ro-ro passenger ships.
The first vessel in the series is expected to be delivered to GNV in 2021.
