The two institutions share similarities and differences. How to better coordinate the two mechanisms has always been a problem that plagued all parties in the industry. At present, the formal entry into force of the amendment has entered a "countdown" phase. First, pay attention to the different scope of application. The scope of application of the IMO's fuel data collection mechanism is different from that of the EU MRV and the IMO mechanism is applicable to international voyages of 5,000 gross tonnage and above, including 5,000 gross tonnage of vessels.

Second, IMO's monitoring data cover all voyages. The monitoring includes fuel consumption, sailing time, distance traveled, cargo volume required by the EU MRV and transport effort not included in the monitoring of amendments to Annex VI of the IMO MARPOL Convention. glenflange
