KLC recently ordered two 300,000 DWT VLCCs under Hyundai Heavy Industries, and the new ship will be delivered in 2020 with a contract value of 185.6 billion won (approximately US$173 million).
The two VLCCs will be used to transport crude oil for GS-Caltex, the second largest refinery in Korea. Before the Korean shipping, GS-Caltex signed a long-term crude oil transportation agreement.
Daehan Shipping stated that it will further strengthen its cooperation with South Korean shipyards and seek to expand its services beyond crude oil transportation. Daehan Shipping currently has 29 ships in its fleet, including 19 bulk carriers (ships for shipyards), eight LNG ships, one tanker, and one car carrier, with a total of 3,393,961 dwt.
