Bibby Marine Orders A Wind Farm Service Operation Ship

British ship owner Bibby Marine Services has ordered a "walk-to-work" wind farm service operation vessel (SOV) under the Damen Shipyard Group for the implementation of the Siemens Gamesa charter party. .

 

Bibby said that this SOV was built by Damen’s shipyard in Galati, Romania and is expected to be delivered by mid- 2019. Construction work has already begun. Damen, Romania The Galati Shipyard had built the SOV “Bibby Wavemaster 1” for Bibby in 2016.

 

The new vessel will have exactly the same design as the "Bibby Wavemaster 1", equipped with a continuous gangway and 3D motion compensated crane system, capable of transferring turbines in a wave height of 2.5 meters. After delivery, the SOV will use Emden, Germany, as its starting port to service Siemens Gamesa turbines at the Hohe See project (497MW) and the Albatros project (119MW) at EnBW in the North Sea, Germany. The two wind farm projects are located in Germany. The local area is about 145 kilometers and 150 kilometers respectively.
